Tongue out, mid-nap, completely unbothered. This is not a pose — this is just Nika. She's been doing this her whole life and she's not going to stop. It's on the merch because it belongs there.

The idea behind it all

"She doesn't wait for permission to be exactly who she is. Nurse, fireman, barista — she shows up, she does the job, and she does it with her tongue out if she feels like it."

NikaTheCat started as a drawing. Then another. Then a question: what if Nika had every job that ever existed? The designs kept coming. Here we are.

Behind every design: Iwona

Spreadsheets by day, illustrations by night. NikaTheCat is made by one person — me, Iwona — with a real calico cat sitting nearby, usually with her tongue out.

Every design starts with an idea I have about Nika — her attitude, the job, the moment. Each one is thought through and finished by me. The shop grows in small batches — intentionally. I'd rather make fewer things that are actually good than rush to fill a catalog.

Nika started as a drawing I made for fun. Then one drawing turned into many. Now she has more jobs than I do, which is both impressive and slightly unfair.
